Rosie Earns it Herself
Rosie loves books and chocolate. After spending her money on candy, she realizes she doesn't have enough left for the book she really wants—and decides to earn it herself.
Through everyday jobs like washing dishes, vacuuming, and helping around the house, Rosie discovers that working hard for something you want can make the reward even sweeter.
For this project, I developed the visual world of Rosie from early character sketches through final illustrated spreads, while also designing the page layouts and integrating the story's typography and imagery.
Early Concepts
The project started with rough character sketches and a storyboard, allowing us to quickly visualize the story, establish pacing, and make changes before moving into final artwork.
Line Art, Layout and Templates
Once the storyboard was approved, I built the full book layout in Adobe InDesign. I selected the typefaces and established the text and image areas for each spread, using a simple image block as a guide.
I then exported the layouts as individual templates and brought them into Procreate to create the illustrations within the allotted space.
This stage also allowed for another round of approvals on the line art, typography, and overall flow of the book.
